STATEMENT: The 2024 ICTAZ Awards and Gala Dinner

Dear Members,

It has been over a week since the inaugural ICTAZ Awards and Gala Dinner, and I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you all for coming together i such elegant fashion to celebrate the success of the achievements. We all looked stunning, and the evening was a true testament to our collective strength and spirit.

The awards ceremony, being the first of its kind in the history of our association, was extraordinarily successful and a resounding success. We enjoyed every moment of it. This success is of course credited to each one of you for coming out in numbers to celebrate, dine, enjoy, laugh, and revel in the camaraderie, far away from the server rooms and security operations centres. I trust that you all found your systems intact the following day!

This inaugural event was just the beginning, a first step on a journey of growth and improvement. It provided us with a platform to build upon, and we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.

Thank you to those who have already shared their valuable feedback. We have received numerous insightful and constructive comments, highlighting areas where we performed well, as well as areas that offer us opportunities for growth. While the feedback on our successes has been overwhelmingly positive, I would like to focus on the areas where we can improve and further develop.

Firstly, I acknowledge that we fell short in terms of timekeeping, and I take full responsibility for this. We will make sure to improve on this in future events, ensuring that we stay on schedule. Secondly, there were mixed feelings regarding the number of awards presented, with some members expressing that we could have been more “intentional” in the way certain awards were handled. We deeply value and appreciate this feedback, as it gives us room to improve in the future.

When calling for nominations, we required a motivational letter, a recommendation from a separate author, and supporting documentation. However, many submissions could have been more compelling.

Moving forward, we will allow more time for bids, and we will also call for suggestions to refine the entire awards concept.

In conclusion, I would like to once again congratulate each one of you for the fantastic job well done. We continue to celebrate you and your achievements, and we will always do so in style.

Seasons Greetings to you all.
