It is with overwhelming pride that I extend a message of profound and sincere thanks to all the members, ICTAZ Executive Council, ICTAZ Secretariat, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates who contributed to the success of the 2025 Information and Communications Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) Conference, Training, Mini-Expo and 16th Annual General Meeting.
I take special recognition of the Minister of Technology and Science Honourable Felix Mutati and MOTS Permanent Secretary Dr Brilliant Habeenzu who committed to interacting with the conference delegates. The support rendered by the Ministry was both inspiring and insightful.
I also acknowledge the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) Director Cyber Security Mr Nawa Samatebele for his guidance relating to the newly enacted Cyber Crime and Cyber Security laws.
To all the speakers and panellists, who graciously accepted to share their knowledge, we are immensely honoured and privileged. Your honest opinions and wealth of practical experience made the event that much richer.
To the sponsors and exhibitors – we appreciate the support that made it possible to attain a high-level engagement. Your collaboration with the association will help elevate Zambia’s ICT sector through the dialogue, networking and learnings achieved during the four-day event.
To all the partners that quietly worked in the background to ensure delegate participation and made suggestions on the overall programme of events, I thank you.
The conference aimed to elevate the experience of our members to address real issues and promote honest conversations around the bottlenecks and potential areas of growth in the ICT sector. There may have been some lapses in time-keeping but it was encouraging to see the levels of engagement that were maintained throughout the event. It is definitely a cause for celebration.
The year-on-year growth has also seen the numbers of international delegates increase. This points to the growing influence of Zambia’s ICT sector beyond our borders. The presence of the Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) President David Gowu, who is also Executive Director of the Institute of ICT Professionals of Ghana, and ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) President Clarence Gama further consolidates the association’s links to ICT professional bodies across the continent.
The event which was hosted from 29th April to 2nd May 2025 under the theme: From Copper to Code: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Accelerate Digital Transformation in Zambia for Economic Growth, was able to score record attendance only because you, our members, are able to demonstrate the value of participation in this annual event.
The annual conference speaks to the aspirations of the association and acts as a point of reference for activities that will build the ICT profession and it’s contribution to Zambia’s social and economic growth.
Of the numerous take-aways from the 2025 ICTAZ Conference, one that stands out is the Ministerial guidance that ICTAZ will be the focal point for all matters relating to ICT going forward. This requires your active participation in identifying solutions, crafting policy proposals and developing action points that will grow the sector. I have no doubt that we are equal to the task.
Your continued commitment and support rendered is highly valued.
There are not enough words to extend the gratitude and appreciation felt.
THANK YOU!
Dr Clement M. Sinyangwe
ICT Association of Zambia President
