I had the privilege of attending the 2026 National Delivery Day, hosted by the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

The session opened with an overview of the PDU\u2019s mandate, ensuring that government moves from commitments to measurable results. A key message that stood out was the deliberate shift away from ministries operating in silos, toward inter-ministerial collaboration.

This immediately resonated with me, especially as it echoed a message shared at the recent ICTAZ conference, that even in technology, the solutions we build must not operate in isolation, but must be designed to integrate and work together.

The PDU\u2019s role in performance tracking and accountability was also very clear – aligning ministries to national targets and continuously monitoring progress against the President\u2019s vision. Alongside this is a strong emphasis on effective communication, ensuring that development agendas are not only implemented, but also understood by citizens and stakeholders.

One of the most eye-opening moments for me was seeing a live demonstration of a government dashboard, presenting insights across sectors like mining and agriculture.

It challenged a perception I previously held that we are far behind in leveraging data at a national level.

Instead, it showed that while progress may not always be visible, systems are being developed to support data-driven decision-making. At the same time, it also revealed a gap in awareness many of us may not even know these systems exist.

As a technology professional, this was a powerful moment of reflection:

\u25aa\ufe0e Breaking silos requires systems that can communicate.
\u25aa\ufe0e Tracking progress requires reliable data and visibility.
\u25aa\ufe0e Delivering impact requires secure and well-designed infrastructure.

Technology, therefore, is not just supporting development, it is enabling it.

It also made me reflect on the role of institutions like ICTAZ and professionals within the ICT space.

ICTAZ plays an important role in shaping standards, promoting professionalism, and providing guidance to ensure that the ICT sector meaningfully supports national development.

For those of us in the field, whether in systems, networking, cloud, or cybersecurity; It is a reminder that the work we do must go beyond isolated solutions, and move toward building systems that are scalable, secure, and aligned to real-world impact.

At some point, opportunity must grow into responsibility – to contribute, to uplift, and to serve.
